Sizing it right

We don't just match the tonnage that was there before. Plenty of houses around here had the wrong size system from day one. We look at square footage, insulation, windows, which way the house faces and the duct it's going on. Oversized units short cycle and leave the house clammy. Undersized units run all day and never catch up.

What's included

• Pull and haul away the old equipment
• New condenser and air handler, or a heat pump system
• Line set flushed or replaced
• New pad or stand, tied down to Florida code
• New drain line and float switch
• Disconnect, whip and electrical checked or replaced as needed
• Permit and inspection
• Vacuum, charge, startup and full system test

Efficiency

New equipment is rated in SEER2. Higher numbers use less power to move the same amount of heat. AC is the biggest chunk of most Florida power bills, so going from an old system to a new one usually shows up on the bill. We'll quote a couple of options so you can pick what fits.

When it's time

12 to 15 years old, R-22, a failed compressor or a leaking coil are the usual signs. If yours is younger and the problem is small, we'll tell you to repair it. If the duct is shot, we'll tell you that too, because a new system on bad ductwork won't perform.
