Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about repairs, installs, the ComfortCare plan and where we work.

General

What areas do you serve?

All of Southwest Florida: Charlotte, Lee, Collier and Hendry counties. That's Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Estero, Bonita Springs, Naples, Marco Island, LaBelle, Clewiston and everywhere in between. The full list is on the service area page.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Florida license CAC1818010, fully insured. You can look the license up anytime on the Florida DBPR license search.

What are your hours?

24 hours a day, 6 days a week. If your AC goes out at night, call the cell at (863) 517-2905.

How much is a service call?

$95 for a diagnostic on weekdays before 5pm. After 5pm and on weekends it's $150. Once we find the problem, you get the repair price before we do any work.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes, on new systems, replacements, duct work and new construction. We'll come out, look it over and give you an honest quote. No obligation. Repair calls have the diagnostic fee above.

What brands do you work on?

All major brands, residential and commercial.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Package units, rooftop change outs, crane lifts, restaurants, offices and multi-unit buildings. See commercial HVAC.

Repairs

My AC is running but not cooling. What should I check first?

Make sure the thermostat is on cool and set below the room temperature. Check the filter and the breakers, and see if the condenser outside is running. If there's ice on the copper lines, turn the system off and call us. More on the emergency AC repair page.

Why is water leaking from my air handler?

Nine times out of ten it's a clogged condensate drain. Florida humidity and the algae that grows in the line make it really common. Many systems have a float switch that shuts the AC off when it happens. Call us and we'll clear it and figure out why it backed up.

Should I repair or replace my AC?

Depends on the age, the repair and how it's been running. If it's 12 to 15 years old, runs R-22 or needs a compressor, replacing usually makes more sense. If it's younger and the repair is small, fix it. We'll give you the numbers on both.

Why does my heat smell like something's burning?

A dusty smell for a few minutes the first time the heat runs each year is normal. That's dust burning off the heat strips. If it's strong, hangs around or smells like plastic or wiring, turn it off and call us. More on the heating page.

Maintenance Plan

What's included in the C&R ComfortCare plan?

$211 a year per system gets you 2 full tune-ups, any months you pick. Each one covers coil cleaning, refrigerant and electrical checks, a drain flush, the heat side and 1 standard filter. You also get priority scheduling and a lower labor rate on repairs. The full checklist is on the plan page.

Are filters included?

One standard filter each visit. If the house has more than one return and you have the extra filters on hand, we'll put them all in. Changing them between visits is on you.

How often should I change my filter?

In Florida, a standard 1 inch filter usually needs changing every 1 to 2 months, sooner with pets or allergies. Thicker media filters last longer, so check the label.

How often should my AC be serviced?

Twice a year down here. Systems run almost year round, so two checkups about 6 months apart catch most problems before they turn into breakdowns.

Do I have to come in spring and fall?

No. You pick the 2 months. Most people space them about 6 months apart, but whatever works for your schedule works for us.

How much is a one-time tune-up?

$150. Same full tune-up, no plan needed. If you want 2 a year, the $211 plan works out cheaper and comes with priority scheduling and a repair discount.

How do I sign up for the plan?

Call (863) 517-2905 or use Sign Up Online on the plan page. We'll set up your first visit and you pay the $211 then.

Does one plan cover more than one system?

One plan covers one system at one address. Two systems, two plans.

Does the plan renew automatically?

No. It runs 12 months and doesn't renew on its own. We'll reach out before it's up to offer renewal at the current rate.

Can I cancel the plan?

Yes, just give us 30 days notice. Cancel before the first visit and you get a full refund. After the first visit, there's no refund and member benefits end on the cancellation date.

Do members get a discount on repairs?

Yes, a reduced labor rate on repairs for the life of the plan. Labor only, not parts, refrigerant or equipment.

Installations

How long does an AC replacement take?

Depends on the equipment, the access and whether the duct needs changes. You'll get a time estimate with the quote so you know what to plan around.

What size AC do I need?

It depends on the house: square footage, insulation, windows, layout and which way it faces. Bigger isn't better. An oversized system won't control humidity. We'll size it properly at the free estimate.

Are mini splits worth it?

For the right space, yes. Garages, additions, bonus rooms, enclosed lanais and homes with no duct. Quiet, efficient and every room gets its own control. See mini splits.

No questions match that. Give us a call at (863) 517-2905.
